Exclusive New Block Of The Month

Hello,

We are delighted to announce that you can now sign up to our very first Block Of The Month pattern kit! Sew along with us for the rest of 2025 and let’s see what we can create!

As you have probably gathered from recent activity here at Cow and Giraffe, we are working closely with fellow Yorkshire lady, Karen Lewis, who creates the most beautiful calming fabrics and patterns. We are continuing this collaboration with this exclusive BOM.

Using one of Karen’s patterns – Nordic Cool, as seen above – and her Conway Cottage fabrics, we have created a 7 month BOM project which we can’t wait to get started on with you!

Sign ups are open now – click here to join and order your BOM kit. The kit includes a print out of the pattern and all the fabric you need for the quilt (top, binding and backing), which is 5 metres of fabric, including a wide back for the backing. The cost is £88. If you need wadding, do let us know and we can add that on for you.

Timeline:
Now – sign-ups are open!
6th June – pre orders close (you can still join us anytime, you just might not get your fabric in time for the official start date)
16th June – Let the cutting and sewing begin!
3rd Monday of each month – we will be starting the next block and sending you an email to share our progress and see how you are getting on.
End of 2025 – aim to have a beautiful new quilt created to gift, or to snuggle under for the rest of the winter.
There are 6 blocks and we need 6 of each, so you will create 6 of the same block each month. Then in months 7 we will put our masterpieces all together! Well, that is the aim – some of you will no doubt speed ahead, and others (perhaps including ourselves!) might take a little longer!! You will be sent the entire pattern along with the fabric so you can go at your own pace.

The majority of the blocks use 2.5 inch strips so this makes them relatively easy to sew and beginner friendly. One block is foundation paper pieced, but shouldn’t be too taxing, even if you’ve not tried that before. You can always get in touch if you need any tips, we’ll be in it together!

The finished quilt is 48” (122cm) square so it’s the perfect size to snuggle under, without being too cumbersome to quilt at home.

We can’t wait to get started on our sewing for this and we hope you will join us on the journey.
